AP French continues studies from levels 1-3 or 1-4. Throughout the course, the student reviews previously learned material to attain mastery, particularly in the more difficult concepts of the language. The course follows the six themes put forth by the AP College Board to increase student understanding of the target culture, vocabulary and structure of the language.
AP French Language is designed to prepare students to pass the AP French Language exam. Students should expect rigorous language training, extensive reviews, and in depth use of the language both orally and written. The use of computer simulated conversations, French videos, timed essays and oral presentations, and analytical reading are accompanied by required synchronous sessions and oral assessments with the teacher. Each of the assessment components are structured to simulate the AP exam experience, thus incorporating time and organization into student work. Students will explore the Francophone world through the six themes of the AP curriculum, thus expanding cultural ideals that will help them develop a level of global citizenship.
AP French Language is a yearlong course consisting of 7 units. Upon successful completion students will receive 1 credit towards high school graduation.
